There is no cure for the common cold, so people are left to suffer with a cold until it goes away. Even though there may not be a cure for the cause of the common cold, there are still measures you can take to make your cold go away faster. A cold can drain your energy and make doing anything difficult. If you invest some time into getting rid of a cold, then you can reduce your symptoms and get on with your day.
If you remain active while you have a cold, then you are reducing your chances of getting rid of it. The fatigue associated with every day activity causes a cold to hang around for days and even weeks. Set aside one full week to take care of your cold properly, and you can move on with the rest of your responsibilities.
Nothing cures the common cold, but there are plenty of things you can get to treat the symptoms. Cold and flu medication that causes drowsiness is ideal for helping you get much needed rest. Consult your doctor to find out if there are any medications you cannot take, or if certain medications would work better for you. You will also need plenty of fluids to replace the fluids your body loses when you are sick. Water and orange juice are ideal for getting rid of a cold. You should plan on having at least ten glasses of water a day and a full quart of orange juice. You will also need soft facial tissues and comfortable clothing to wear. Remember, you are not going anywhere until you feel better, so the more comfortable the clothing, the better.
You need to drink your fluids throughout the course of the day and allow yourself to sleep as much as you can. Do not engage in any physical activity while trying to get rid of a cold. Take your cold and flu medication at night to help you sleep. Plenty of bed rest, fluids and relaxation should have you back on your feet in a week or less.
Just because there is no cure for the common cold does not mean there are no steps you can take to get rid of yours. Your body needs to rest to fend off a cold. Once you get yourself settled in for a few days with the right supplies, you will find your cold gone quicker than you thought.
