How To Make A Canopy Bed

Canopy beds can turn a dull bedroom into an elegant bedroom. These beds look as if they may have cost a lot of money and took a lot of time to make them look so beautiful, but this is simply not true. It is actually quite easy and affordable to make a plain bed look utterly gorgeous. The only things that people will need are two curtain rods that are as long as the bed and two to four pieces of material for the canopy.

Curtain Rods For A Canopy Bed

For those beds, that do not have four posters to hang a canopy from, people can easily make a canopy bed using two curtain rods. They simply need to hang the curtain rods securely to the ceiling on either side of the bed long-wise. They then need to take the material and hang it over the rods forming a canopy on each side of the bed. They may also choose to use curtains rather than material, and string the curtains through each rod.

For a formal look, people can hang two pieces of material or curtains on each rod, and use tie-backs to tie the canopies back when the bed is not in use.

Choosing The Material For The Canopy

The best fabrics for people to use, to give the bed an elegant look, are either velvet, silk or tapestries. Soft colors are also an excellent choice when choosing colors for a canopy. For a feminine bed, light pink and/or lace is a perfect choice. For people, who do not want the bed to look feminine or child-like, they may want to choose light blues, peach or light yellows. They may also choose to pick some material with designs on it, such as Indian designs, jungle designs or animal designs.

People can compliment the canopy with various cushions, sheets and bed spreads to complete the elegant look.
