How to Make a Memory Book

Vintage photos background.

A memory book is a great way to capture memories. It is essentially very similar to a scrapbook. Many stores sell pre-made memory book templates, but most people find it much more fulfilling to make your own memory book from scratch.

The first thing you will need to do to create your own memory book is to gather the materials you will be using. You may want to gather things like corrugated cardboard, colored paper, notebook paper, glue sticks, hot glue, photos, programs or invitations, small mementos, multiple colors of permanent markers, stickers, rubber stamps, scissors, a ruler, pencils, yarn, and twine. Corrugated cardboard is a great material to make the front and back covers out of. Colored paper is great for the pages. Twine makes a good binding material. All of the other objects are either used for assembling the book or decorating to book.

Before you begin assembling the book, you may want to think of a theme for the book. For example, some themes you might use are: our seaside vacation, Joey's birth, Miranda's third birthday, our wedding, Kasey's high school graduation, Brian and Amanda's engagement, or a multitude of other events. The theme of the book may influence your decorations. It may also serve as the title of your memory book.

Once you have all of your material together and have picked a theme, start assembling your memory book.

Here's a tip: print out photos of the event you are documenting instead of using the originals, so you can save the originals.
It is so much fun to look through old photos and memorabilia when creating your memory book. Creating the memory book can take as long or as little as you like. Some people really enjoy the process or are very meticulous, so devote weeks to such an endeavor. However, if you are short on time, rest assured that you can create a memory book in as little as a few hours.

Once you have finished your memory book, you will cherish it for years to come. It makes a great coffee table decoration and is also fun to show to friends and family members.
