How To Repair A TV

Many people enjoy watching TV, and it can be quite disheartening when the TV is not working properly. The first thing that many people think to do is to call a TV repair man to fix the set. Repair shops can be quite expensive though; and, in many cases, it can be some time before people will get their TVs back. However, in many cases, people can easily and quickly repair their LCD TVs themselves.

Reboot The TV

Since LCD TVs are microprocessor based much like computers, in some cases, the only thing that people need to do to fix any problems with the TVs is to reboot them. They simply need to turn the set off, wait about 15 seconds, and then unplug it from the outlet. They need to make sure all cables are attached properly, plug the TV back in after about one minute, and turn the TV back on. In many cases, this will fix the problem.

Checking The Cables

If there is no audio on the TV, and there is a pinkish-colored screen, there is usually a problem with the cable connections. In this case, people can try either using shorter cables or using different inputs. Sometimes, whereas the DVD system may not work, the cable box will, and vice versa. Another thing to try is a DDC line conditioner. In most cases, the conditioner will solve the problem. Sparkles on the TV are usually a sign of cable connections, as well. Again, using shorter cables should solve this problem. If it does not solve the problem, people can try connecting the cables at different positions down the signal's pathway.

If the picture is flashing on and off, it is usually a problem with the gauge of the cable wire, and they should try using a 20 gauge rather than a 24.
