For any small business or personal venture where a brochure is needed, it is quite simple to create one in-house. There is no need to spend excessive money by hiring a design team or marketing company for the brochure. A few simple steps will create a well designed and attractive brochure.
Before a computer is turned on and the brochure created, some ideas should be drawn out and a basic format determined. The overall layout needs to be decided upon and the stories and text to be included. In this process, one is able to trim down any extra or unnecessary items.
Pictures can also be looked at in this preparation phase. It is generally best to use pictures that are grayscale or black and white. These will generally reproduce the best. Brochures that are in color can be done at home or by the small business, but will often not look crisp or completely clear.
The overall goal of the brochure should be to get the reader to be interested in the subject and take action. Whether it is to visit a store in person or to quit smoking, there needs to be a hook and a purpose of the brochure. If after looking at the brochure one is not inclined to do something, the brochure was not successful.
Once the brochure is completed, it is ready to be printed. This should be done on paper stock that is vibrant, but not too overwhelming. The content in the brochure should bring attention, not the bright paper.
Planning and careful considerations will ensure that the brochure is tastefully and well designed.
