EMT basic training

There are several training options available for EMTs. While requirements vary by state, EMT basic training certificates are often obtained within a few weeks to a few months. EMT basic training tends to consist of non-invasive procedures, such as bleeding control, supplemental oxygen administration and splinting. With this entry-level certificate, EMTs can expect to make anywhere from 9-15 dollars an hour.

EMT intermediate

Paramedics

The final stage in EMT training is the Paramedic level. Paramedics usually train for two years or more to earn an associates degree, although field experience as an EMT is also required. The training is very intense, and they are able to perform advanced procedures on patients. Paramedics are the highest payed of the EMT class with a median hourly wage of 23 dollars.
