The uses of a degausser is like the name indicates, to degauss. It has most widely been used in regards to CRT televisions, where the degausser would work to remove or severely lessen the magnetic field in the monitor.

You need someone with a Degausser to fix it. There are DIY Degaussers out there. Remove anything with remotely magnetic properties from on top of your television and see if it disappears over a week or so, if not most likely a Degausser is the answer

Removing magnetism from something is often called degaussing. A degausser uses an alternating current to create an alternating magnetic field that "sweeps" the magnetic fields from things in which they have appeared. The degausser randomizes the magnetic domains that had formed in the metal of the springs.
