111 Huntington Avenue (sometimes given the unofficial nickname "The R2-D2 Building") is one of Boston's newest skyscrapers and is part of the Prudential Center complex that also houses the Prudential Tower. The building is marked by a distinctive open dome at the top. Completed in 2002, the tower is 554 feet (169 meters) tall and houses 36 floors. The building is the tallest skyscraper built in Boston since 1987. 111 Huntington is Boston's eighth-tallest building, but its Back Bay location alongside the Prudential and John Hancock Towers gives it a prominent place in the city's skyline. It won the 2002 bronze Emporis Skyscraper Award.

The tower's busy footprint rises and culminates in a frame dome and crown which is illuminated at night.

The building has two main stairways at its core along with two freight elevators. Both cover all floors including the basement parking garage area, where there are two additional levels called P1 and P2.

The main lobby space of 111 Huntington Avenue can be accessed easily from the Prudential retail mall. The lobby interior consists of reflective black marble walls with finished wood paneling. Upon entering the lobby, the entrance features a black marble wall with the three numbers 111 in a silver color suspended half way up the wall. Water runs down the wall from ceiling all the way down to the floor in a cascading effect over the three numbers. Directly behind the cascading waterfall are a series of elevator bays.

Of the total number of passenger elevators, four travel between the 2nd-9th floors, six travel to the 10th-22nd floors, and another six travel between the 23rd-35th floors. Beside the main lobby the tower also has two elevators which serve the two sub-levels of the parking garage. The elevators in the tower are each outfitted with two small flat screen televisions that show daily news and trivia from the Captivate Network.
