Communication
During the fighting over control of Alexandria in the wake of the assassination of Julius Caesar, either part of the Library at Alexandria is burned or else the books that Cleopatra had given to Caesar in 48 bce are lost. Marc Antony [b. Rome, c. 83 bce, d. 30 bce], now allied with Cleopatra, donates the 200,000-roll library from Pergamum (Bergama, Turkey) to Alexandria to replace the lost books. ConstructionLucius Cocceius Auctus designs and builds two tunnels to ease traffic bottlenecks around Naples, each about 3 m (10 ft) wide and varying in height from 2/5 m (9 ft) to 21 m (70 ft).
