Who doesn’t dream of walking on the red carpet? Although for the vast majority of us this is not a realistic dream, we still would like to look as if we could fit in with the red carpet crowd. Enter cosmetic surgery.

Liposuction will not solve the problem of obesity, but it can give good results in people of normal weight who have a stubborn belly that just won’t go away, or isolated pockets of fat in the arms, legs, or buttocks. It costs around $2700.00-2900.00 for the surgeon’s fee. The procedure lasts only 45 minutes and the patient is able to return to work in a week or two.

Eyelid surgery is aimed at getting rid of puffiness, drooping lids, or wrinkles around the eyes. It costs around $2800.00 for the surgeon’s fee and lasts about one to three hours. After surgery people return to work in about ten days.

Tummy tucks make for a slimmer waistline. Surgeons charge around $5000.00 for this two to five hour surgery. Patients return to work in one to three weeks.

Breast reduction makes for smaller, perkier breasts, and costs around $5500.00 for the two to four hour procedure. Women can expect to return to work in a week or two.

Rhinoplasty, is a procedure to change the size or shape of the nose. Surgeons charge around $4200 for the one to two hour procedure, and patients return to work in a week or ten days. Removal of enlarged male breasts costs about $3300.00 and takes approximately two hours. Men return to work in about a week.

Hair transplantation costs around $5000.00 and takes several hours. Men return to work in several days.

Cosmetic surgery and other cosmetic procedures, such as laser hair removal, can make you feel and look better, so if you can afford it and can afford to take time off and endure some discomfort, go for it, but take some caution. Be sure your finances are in reasonably good shape before, and ask the surgeon about any dangers involved. Remember, general anesthetic is being used, and while it safe to use in good hands, it is a controlled form of poison. Some people can have side effects such as stopping breathing or heart attacks, so carefully weigh the benefits against the risks.
