The only rule that I have is to always be skeptical of questions that ask if something is always the case (as hypocritical as that rule is facially). I am further troubled by the use of the word "revolution" which can refer to a variety of very distinct activities, some peaceful and beneficial and others violent and destructive.

I would say that peaceful avocation of global peace and security, human rights and communal dignity is almost always justifiable. When it starts becoming more violent, I find it far less justifiable and its justifiability usually has an indirect relationship with the level of violence.

Often times, people believe that they do not need to hire an attorney for a court case or legal matter because they feel justified and it seems that whatever situation they are in does not require an attorney's representation to prove the absolute obvious. For example, if a robber breaks into your home, you called the police, who then caught the criminal red-handed and then you even have the entire break-in recorded on your home video surveillance system, you may wonder what on Earth you would need to pay money out to hire an attorney for. If you are in a car accident where many witnesses watched another car slam into the side of your non-moving vehicle at a red light, it seems ludicrous to think that you should have to hire an attorney to defend what is clear, obvious and undeniable. If your child's mother is in jail for the umpteenth time and you are a drug-free, honest, hard working and loving parent, a custody case would seem cut and dry. What could you possibly need an attorney's representation for, other than to take your money and stand in court saying all of the things you can say on your own, right?

While faith in the justice system is certainly a good thing with some justifiability to it, the fact of the matter is that things do not always go according to plan. There are certain loop holes and details to the law that the average citizen simply does not know, nor knows how to argue in court with the proper legal backing. For example, certain prior cases often need to be referenced in order to persuade a judge or jury to make a certain decision. Some things are not cut and dry, and the drunk driver who demolished your vehicle and left you in physical therapy for the rest of your life may end up with no jail time if you are self-represented in court and opposing an attorney who is armed with years and years of legal education and court room experience. Legal representation may cost money up front, but it is well worth the peace of mind you are likely to walk out of the court room with.

Was World War I a Just War?

Many people believe that World War I was not a just war. Strong, courageous, and bold, millions of soldiers fought for a mighty cause and had an adventure of a lifetime. By the end of the war in 1918, millions of soldiers never would return home again, and although they have been missed greatly, we have, and always will give thanks to them for everything they have done for us. According to the Catholic Catechism of Just War, World War I was a just war because: damage inflicted by the aggressor on the allied powers was surely lasting and grave, means to end the war were put in action and became ineffective, and impractical, and finally, each alliance felt victory was theirs but truly both sides won in separate ways. The loss of brave soldiers, damage of landscapes, and emotional wreckages were only three of the many devastating catastrophic blows to our world, after the oppressions of World War I. From the bloody baths of no-man's land and the trenches, to the desolate plains of war stricken land; one can say that without a doubt; that the world was changed. Terrain was in unbearable conditions, littered with the lifeless bodies of soldiers, and was not in any type of living, or farming quality for a lasting period of time. Not only had land been destroyed by the World War, but also the emotional states left in the minds of many people. Devastating affairs took people through unbelievable trials and tribulations, especially grieving the loss of loved ones. The death of millions of young men was the greatest damage inflicted upon both alliances and was surely inexhaustible. The Great War was ultimately a deplorable affair, and ultimatums were proposed to end this heartbreaking lament. still to be continued.....( opinion piece for academic history)
