"Megan's Law" is an informal term which encompasses all laws in
the U.S. that require law enforcement authorities to publicize
information about registered sex offenders.
They are collectively called this due to the unfortunate rape
and murder of the seven-year-old Megan Kanka in Mercer County, New
Jersey in 1994.
