Andrew Coburn - catastrophe modeller - was born in 1956.

CAD can be put into 5 main categories which evolved like so....

1) Graphic Communication Enhancer (ie pen and paper replacement)

2) Part Modeller

3) Dimension Based Part Modeller

4) Feature based and dimension based part modeller

5) Building Information Modeller (BIM)

5 evolved from 4 but isn't really an improvement is more of an off shoot from 4 after it was created.

But 4 and 5 contain properties of each but are focused on different industries, mechanical and architectural respectivly.
