There are many different cricket teams within Australia that represent on a particular level. To answer the question, there are two main levels of cricket in Australia, domestic and international.

Domestic cricket runs in the form of the KFC T20 Big Bash, the Ryobi One Day Cup, and the Sheffield Shield. In all three formats, players from New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania and South Australia compete in the respective teams for the championship. However, the rules vary slightly for the 2011 big bash (now called the "Big Bash League"), where there will be eight teams instead of six. These are the:

Adelaide Strikers

Brisbane Heat

Hobart Hurricanes

Melbourne Renegades

Melbourne Stars

Perth Scorchers

Sydney Sixers

Sydney Thunder

As opposed to the normal (sponsor name in italic):

New South Wales Speedblitz Blues

Queensland XXXX Bulls

Victoria DEC Bushrangers

Western Australia Retrovision Warriors

Tasmania PKF Tigers

South Australia West End Redbacks

These teams will be used in the composition of the One Day and Sheffield Shield Tournaments. Their is a women's alternative competition for each of the above leagues.

It is from these leagues that the national teams are picked. These include the Australian mens First XI Test, ODI and T20 teams, the PM's XI, the under 19 Australian mens side, the First XI women's team and Australia 'A'.
