One of the most fun games I have played in a long time is titled FTL Faster Than Light. It is a rougelike top-down, real time strategy game where the player controls the crew of a single spaceship. You upgrade different systems on your spaceship as you go, and there are a wide variety of weapons and drone systems to choose from.

Each game is randomly generated and if your ship is destroyed, your game ends in perma-death and you can begin a new game. The game is highly re-playable with several different strategies available for exploring.
