The corpus striatum is a collection of caudate nuclei and the
putamen portion of the lentiform nucleus. The crossing of the
internal capsules between the diencephalon and the basal ganglia
gives the corpus striatum its stripped appearance, hence its name
corpus striatum, or "stripped body."
The corpus striatum consists of the basal ganglia and the
internal capsule, and it is related to the internal capsule by
separating it from the putamin.
