If you mean 'stringhalt,' it's a condition in which the horse involuntarily jerks his hind legs up in the back as he moves. It isn't painful or dangerous, but is unsightly and can make him clumsier. It can vary from violent yanking up of the foot with every step to a mild extra flexion in the hock. Some horses show symptoms all the time while some don't, and the symptoms can appear in one or both hind legs. It's exact causes are as of yet unkown, but it can be treated by surgically removing the tendon that causes the flexion.
