Stropharia rugosoannulata was created in 1922.

Stropharia ambigua was created in 1898.

I tripped for about 5 minutes 12 hours after eating winecaps, I took them with alcohol which may have activated some toxin. It was pleasant except for the pressure in my back and the abdominal discomfort which was minimal. I believe the winecap can cause a short trip under proper circumstances.

The scientific or taxonomic name would be Strophariarugosoannulata.

These alkaloids have also been produced synthetically. Newer hallucinogens, such as PCP (phencyclidine, or "angel dust" ), a drug originally used as an anesthetic, and MDMA ( "Ecstasy" ), an amphetamine derivative, were common in the 1980s. Marijuana has hallucinogenic properties but is pharmacologically distinct.
