Thordal-Christensen, Aage (b Frederiksberg, 30 Oct. 1965). Danish dancer, choreographer, and ballet director. He trained at the Ballet School of the Royal Theatre, Copenhagen (1972-82); later studied at the School of American Ballet in New York and at the National Ballet School in Toronto. He joined the Royal Danish Ballet in 1984 but left for America the following year. He was a dancer with Pacific Northwest Ballet for six years (1986-92), becoming a principal in 1989. In 1992 he returned to the Royal Danish Ballet as a soloist, where he danced a wide range of roles in both the traditional and modern repertoire. He made his debut as a choreographer in Copenhagen in 1994 with Behind the Curtain (mus. Kim Helweg) and followed that with Room 7 (mus. Luigi Ceccarelli, 1994) and Something Like That (mus. Helweg, 1995). He was appointed artistic director of the Royal Danish Ballet in 1999.
