Epzicom (also known as Kivexa) is a single-tablet combination of two potent anti-HIV medications called Ziagen (abacavir) and Epivir (3TC, lamivudine) - hence the name: Epivir and Ziagen combined.

It belongs to a category of HIV medicines called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) that retard the ability of HIV to replicate and mutate.

Epzicom must be combined with at least one other anti-HIV drug, usually a protease inhibitor (PI) or a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI).
