Company Bio Established in October, 1982,
Access Software is a developer of entertainment software, including sports, simulation, and adventure games.
Access Software entered the home software industry in the era of the Commodore 64 personal computer. The first application produced, "Spritemaster," was created to help Commodore 64 users program and place sprites, the animated block figures used in customized programs. Over the next six years, 11 titles were produced for the Commodore 64.
With the production of the flight simulator Echelon,
Access Software ventured into the IBM home computer market. As the demand for larger, more realistic game software increased, the programming staff began devoting all of its time and attention to entertainment titles. The creation of the Links series of golf simulations ensured the continued success of
Access Software .
The company has been a pioneer in the computer industry.
Access Software was the first entertainment software company to produce: VGA-only software products,
MS-DOS "talking" products, DOS-Extended program (memory scheme), a Super VGA-only program, Digitized characters with speech motion, an interactive movie game, and a game developed for DVD.
