  • enzootic bovine a. — see atypical interstitial pneumonia.
  • porcine intestinal a. — a disease of recently weaned pigs characterized by a sudden appearance of anorexia and weight loss, a short course of a few weeks and recovery in most cases. The diagnostic feature is the adenomatous thickening of the intestinal wall due to proliferation of intestinal epithelial crypt cells. Lawsonia intracellularis is the causative agent.
