aerobic power

aerobic work capacity

The maximum rate at which energy is provided by aerobic respiration. Aerobic power is dependent on the ability of the respiratory and circulatory systems to transport oxygen from the air to the respiring tissues, and the ability of the tissues to use the oxygen to break down metabolic fuels. Aerobic power is usually measured in terms of oxygen consumption. See also maximal oxygen consumption.

aerobic work capacity

The maximum amount of energy that can be produced from the aerobic energy system per unit time (i.e. the rate of ATP production by aerobic metabolism). Aerobic power depends on the ability of tissues to use oxygen to breakdown metabolic fuels and the combined abilities of various systems (pulmonary, cardiac, vascular, and cellular) to transport oxygen from the air to mitochondria. Aerobic power is usually measured in terms of oxygen consumption. See maximal oxygen uptake.
