The placenta and fetal membranes expelled from the uterus following birth.
The special tissues associated with the development of a fetus in the uterus that are expelled after the birth of a neonate. These are the placenta, or the structure attached to the wall of the uterus through which nourishment passes from the mother to the fetus, and the umbilical cord, which attaches the fetus to the placenta.
