Russian-born Israeli architect, one of the first to introduce European Modernism to Palestine, where he settled in 1935. With Munio Gitia Weinraub (1909–70) he designed the Institute of Hebrew Studies at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem (1956), his own house at Mount Carmel, Haifa (1957), and the Hydrotechnical Institute, Technion, Haifa (1957). With Dora Gat (1912–2003) he designed the Israel Museum, Jerusalem (1960–5).
