He died 43 years into his reign and was succeeded by
Amel-Marduk. Amel-Marduk changed everything and released a jewish
king held in captivity for 37 years. He was murdered by his
brother-in-law Nergal-sharezer. His young son Labashi-Marduk ruled
for only a short while until Nabonidus succeeded him after a
revolt. Nabonidus was the last ruler of the neo-Babylonian empire.
He worshiped to moon god Sin over the main god of the Babylonians,
Marduk, and had to leave the empire in the hands of his son.
Nabonidus and the struggles before him caused the fall of
Nebuchadnezzar II's neo-Babylonian empire.
