Mirgund is a small village half a kilometre from Khanabal town,
and one and a half kilometers from the district headquaters of
Islamabad(Anantnag). It is situated on the east bank of river
Jehlum. Its adjoining localities are: Dak Banglow to the west,
Batangoo to the North-West, Village Chee and Anchidoora to the
East, SK Colony to the South-East and Khanabal to the South.
The village is dominated by the Lone clan. Some Aalim Loan from
Kokernag settled in mirgund in around 17-18th century AD. The seven
sons of Alim Lone comprise today's majority of the population of
Mirgund. Besides Loans. Mirs also form a substantion proportion of
the population.
