The monitor hold 20,000 or more volts (depending on the monitor
size and components). Voltage can still be present after turning
off the power. Most technicians who work on monitors have special
training in working on high-voltage equipment. If you must remove
the monitor case to work inside a monitor, safety rules include the
following: (1) do not wear the antistatic wrist strap; (2) unplug
the AC cord from the monitor or wall outlet; (3) do not use regular
test equipment to measure the monitor's high voltages.
