Though he's known mostly (if at all) for his early membership in N.W.A., the Arabian Prince had been a producer and DJ since the early '80s, which undoubtedly helped him sustain his career after leaving N.W.A.. He began in the music business while still in middle school, recording mixtapes during after hours at KACE radio (where his father worked) and DJing school dances as well as the occasional club date. Arabian Prince began recording his own tracks during 1982-1983, and co-produced Bobby Jimmy & the Critters as well as doing live dates with the Egyptian Lover, World Class Wreckin' Cru, and the L.A. Dream Team. Early singles like "Innovator" and "Situation Hot" got much respect on the Los Angeles club scene, and his consistent studio experimentation led to some work with Dr. Dre and N.W.A. for 1988's Straight Outta Compton. One year later saw the release of his own first full-length, Brother Arab, for Orpeus. The single "She's Got a Big Posse" found some chart action, and Tha Underworld followed in 1992. Where's My Bytches, released in 1995, was his last LP of the '90s, though he pursued several musical projects as well as ownership in a special-effects company and animation studio. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
Born and raised in Compton, California and later moved to Inglewood, Arabian Prince released Electro Singles on Macola Records, but when he left to join NWA Macola bootlegged his singles into the Album Situation Hot. In the following year, Arabian Prince joined up with the first gangsta rap group N.W.A. three years after graduating Serra High School in Gardena, CA.
He was a founding member of N.W.A. but when fellow member Ice Cube came back from the University of Arizona in 1988 he found himself to be surplus to the band — Eazy-E, Ice Cube and MC Ren were the main performers, DJ Yella was the turntablist and Dr. Dre was the main producer.
After leaving N.W.A., Arabian Prince continued a solo career. His second album Brother Arab was released in 1989, although it sold poorly.
Arabian Prince continued a solo career again and he released his third album Where's My Bytches in 1993, which was his last album.
He recently started releasing music again with his Professor X project on the Dutch label Clone records. In 2007, he performed as a DJ on the 2K Sports Holiday Bounce Tour with artists from the Stones Throw label. In 2008, Stones Throw will release a compilation of his electro-rap material from the 1980s.[1] One of his songs was included on the 2007 video game College Hoops 2K8.
