History of Arora(Arorvanshi khatri)

History of Arora dynasty

Aroras are descendants of Maharaja Arut, who was a Suryavanshi Kshatriya king. Arut Vanshi Kshatriyas are mentioned in *Bhavishya Purana*.

In Mahabharata* they are described as *Aratta Kshatriyas* whose kingdom was named *Shivi* and the capital of that kingdom was *Arutpura. This kingdom was around the border of northern Sindh and Punjab. Today Arutpura is known as *Aror Kot* or Arora in Sindh.

In later history, it is also mentioned that Aratta Kshatriyas helped Chandragupta Maurya in overthrowing the powerful empire of the Nanda dynasty. Later some Aratta Kshatriyas went into the horse trade from Central Asia.

Aratta Kshatriyas came to be known as Arora in later times. Rai dynasty of Sindh which ruled from 5th to 7th century belonged to Lohana branch of Aroda. Historical document Chachnama mentions that father of Sindh king Dahir Chach (Yash) was a minister of Rai king of Aroda and killed Rai king by deceit and captured his kingdom. Chach and his son Dahir later suppressed Aroda and imposed restrictions on them because they considered Aroda a threat to their kingdom. Due to this reason when Sindh was attacked by Muhammad bin Qasim in 712 AD, Aroda did not help King Dahir due to which he was defeated and Muslims ruled India for the first time. Later due to continuous attacks of Muslims on Sindh and Punjab, Aroras could not re-establish their kingdom and Arora dynasty disintegrated. Arora Khatri settled in different provinces like Sindh, Punjab, Afghanistan and adopted different professions for livelihood like trade, farming. Arora Khatri later matrimonial relations were formed with Khatris and Bhatis of Punjab.

~BIBLICAL STORY OF THE TOWER OF BABEL~

The Tower of Babel (Hebrew: מגדל בבל‎ Migdal BavelArabic: برج بابل‎ Burj Babil), according to the Book of Genesis,[1]was an enormous tower built at the city of Babylon (Hebrew: Babel, Akkadian: Babilu), a cosmopolitan city typified by a confusion of languages,[2] also called the "beginning" of Nimrod's kingdom. According to the biblical account, a unitedhumanity of the generations following the Great Flood, speaking a single language and migrating from the east, participated in the building. The people decided their city should have a tower so immense that it would have "its top in the heavens."[3]

However, the Tower of Babel was not built for the worship and praise of God, but was instead dedicated to the glory of man, to "make a name" for the builders: "Then they said, 'Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.'" (Genesis 11:4). God, seeing what the people were doing, came down and confused their languages and scattered the people throughout the earth.

The Tower of Babel has often been associated with known structures, notably the Etemenanki, a ziggurat dedicated toMarduk by Nabopolassar (c. 610 BC). A Sumerian story with some similar elements is preserved in Enmerkar and the Lord of Aratta.
