There is a rigorous selection process including background checking (contrary to popular belief, the legion is not a home of a bunch of murderers and rapists). providing nothing nasty comes up on the backgroud check and you are physically fit and the adjudant-chef at Aubagne doesn't think you are a waster, you will enlist for five years and start soldiering...
