Marketing Dictionary:

average frequency

Average number of times a consumer has been exposed to a commercial in any medium that is part of an advertising campaign. If an advertiser runs a six-week campaign for a product, using radio, television, newspapers, magazines, and outdoor advertising, it would be hoped that the average consumer would be exposed to the advertising many times through the various media and that the average frequency rating for that product would be high.
