One who collects or administers the collection of money obtained by racketeering and other dishonest means. (1928 —) .
National Times (Australia): The money is always paid in cash, by personal contact in a pub or a car. The police 'bag man' will call once a month to collect (1973).
[From the bag supposedly carried to hold the money collected; cf. the earlier sense, a commercial traveller.]
