Because the Awami League governs bangladesh in a autocratic
manner. They preach democracy but they don't practice democracy in
their own party. Sheik Hasina has been in charge of AL for the past
two decades and she is the only candidate to run for prime minister
position; the same goes for Khaleda Zia and her BNP.
Going back to the autocratic governance, AL will destroy the
lives of anyone who speaks against the government, especially Prime
Minister Sheik Hasina. In a democracy there is the freedom of
speech, but in Bangladesh anyone and everyone is afraid of speaking
against the government except the BNP. The BNP gets away with it
because they have a massive force so AL is cautious on what they do
to BNP. But for everyone else in bangladesh, the rest of the 100+
million Bangladeshi people who do no align themselves much with the
BNP or AL are victims.
Awami League has destroyed Grameen Bank, they are responsible
for the BDR mutinity, and they took a giant 1 billion dollar loan
from India in which 80% of the purchases must be made from India,
which makes Bangladesh dependent on India.
Awami League's student league Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL) are
known to terrorize the public campuses and do whatever they
pleased. I wouldn't be surprised if girls get raped in dorms by BCL
males, and the police are helpless to take on any cases against
them because they have to answer to the AL bosses.
