Bardendichtung

Bardendichtung, a rhapsodic and nationalistic style of poetry cultivated in Germany in the 1760s and 1770s, nourished in part by a vague conception of the role of the early medieval bard and by Ossian. The form was short-lived. See Gerstenberg, Klopstock, Denis, also Bardiet.
