Military History Companion:

battle of Armageddon

Armageddon, battle of (date unknown), where, according to the Revelation of St John the Divine (Rev. 16: 16), the Kings of the Earth under the leadership of the Evil One will confront the Army of God, thus signalling the end of history, military or otherwise. The name comes from the Hebrew Har (hill) and the place is Megiddo. Also hyperbole commonly employed to describe the hypothetical all-out use of nuclear weapons.
