She is supposedly based on a 16th century Norse woodcut of a twin-tailed mermaid, or Siren.

Also called a Melusine (sometimes, Melusina).

The original logo if in Greek mythology most likely applied to Baubo or Iambe, an Eleusinian demi-goddess who presided over ribald humour practised as part of the cult rites. She was an Eleusinian woman who made the grief-stricken Demeter laugh with her course jokes and exposed genitalia.
