Bergamot orange, a citrus fruit

A Bergamot is a yellow-orange colored fruit that is much like a lemon, but is much sweeter and juicier. Mostly grown in the southern regions of France and Italy, the Bergamot is primarily made in marmalade, and its juice and oil is used to treat certain diseases and is used for aromatherapy.

The flavour comes from the rind of the Bergamot orange (citrus bergamia) Citrus Bergamia is a hybrid of Citrus Limetta and Citrus Aurantium

The distinctive flavour is due to the addition of oil extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange.
