Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 5.7 square miles (14.7 km²), all of it land.

All Bethel Township residents who reside in Boothwyn (19061 ZIP code) now live in Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania 19061. The USPS has changed the "Marcus Hook" name for those residents, and they will no longer be identified as "Marcus Hook" by the global postal database. Bethel and neighboring Concord townships will share a post office. Garnet Valley will have its own ZIP code, 19060. This change is effective July 1, 2009. The town gets its name from its school district, Garnet Valley School District, in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. References to Garnet Valley are probably related to the former Behr Garnet Mine, located in Bethel Township.
