There are two correct spellings. Myna and mynah. The first is the most common.
Myna birds are native to Southern Asia, particularly around India.

There are actually 31 different species of myna birds. Most of them are classified as "least concern" in 2015 and therefore not endangered.
However these species are listed as "near threatened", though not yet endangered:

  • Helmeted myna
  • Apo myna
  • Bare-eyed myna
  • Sri Lanka hill myna

And, in 2015, the Bali myna and Black-winged starling (which is considered to be a myna) are listed as critically endangered, meaning on the brink of extinction.
