In filming, a black rim, halo, or multicolored outline that may form around a bright, shining, or highly reflective object focused on by the camera. Sometimes blooming is used as a special effect, particularly when the projected image is a fantasy sequence, but usually this is an annoying distraction and steps must be taken by the camera technician to reduce its occurrence.
