(1906–85; b. Innsbruck, Switzerland; d. Rome, Italy) Italian probabilist with interests in financial and actuarial mathematics. De Finetti studied mathematics first at Milan Polytechnic, where he wrote his first paper (on population genetics), and then at Milan U, where he graduated in 1927. In 1939 he was appointed Professor of Financial Mathematics at Trieste U, moving to U Rome in 1954. He is known for his work on exchangeability and subjective probability.
