Robert Loveman wrote "April Rain". I have copied the poem below:

It is not raining rain for me,

It's raining daffodils;

In every dimpled drop I see

Wild flowers on the hills.

The clouds of gray engulf the day

And overwhelm the town;

It is not raining rain to me,

It's raining roses down.

It is not raining rain to me,

But fields of clover bloom,

Where any buccaneering bee

Can find a bed and room.

A health unto the happy,

A fig for him who frets!

It is not raining rain to me,

It's raining violets.

in the 1700s.

If 'On Stranger Tide' is running to a true timeline (I havent seen it yet) then it must be set between November 1717 when Blackbeard received the Queen Anne's Revenge and sometime shortly after May 1718 when he ran the Revenge aground at Beaufort Inlet, North Carolina; transfering supplies to the Adventure and making his escape.

The Queen Anne's Revenge was originally known as La Concorde de Nantes

and was taken by Pirate captain Benjamin Hornigold November 28th 1717 and turned directly over to Edward Teach who renamed it and refitted it as his Flagship, having much success from the west coast of Africa to the Caribbean.

FYI:-

The Golden age of Piracy is said (but is open to variation) to be from around the time of the escapades of Henry Morgan and Bartolomeu Potugues in the 1650s, known as the Buccaneering period through the Pirate Rounds of the 1690s (featuring longer voyages and the early East India company) to the post-Spanish Succession period when large amounts of sailors turned to Piracy around the Caribbean, the American eastern seaboard, the West African coast, and the Indian Ocean. While the Golden Age of European and American pirates is generally said to have ended by 1730, the prosperity of the Barbary pirates continued until the early 19th century.

Excuse the waffle, thats a long way around a straight answer. lol
