Bund wall and dyke wall are two completely different walls, and used for certain use. Bund wall is a concrete or earth wall surrounding a storage tank containing crude oil or its refined product, and dyke wall is a long wall or embankment built to prevent flooding from the sea.

The bund wall needs to be high enough to contain the volume of the largest tank within its boundaries, plus precipitation and firefighting water. The distance of the wall from the tank needs to be far enough so that waves deflecting of the tank side are not allowed to cross over the top of the bund wall. There is no codified or fixed distance that I'm aware of, but potential waves should be taken in to account with your design.

Bunding means surrounding something, for example an oil tank, with a bund wall. If the tank ruptures the bund wall contains the oil. Bunded tanks are often required before insurance will be offered on the tanks.
