Marketing Dictionary:

business date

Date assigned to documents by a firm's fulfillment department to enable the documents to be processed according to a schedule. Business dates are also used to track and control batches of documents after processing. The business date usually corresponds to the date the document was received by the fulfillment department or the date money received with the document was deposited in a bank.
