The California Republican Party is the California affiliate of the national Republican Party. Its chairman is Ron Nehring and is based in Burbank, California, a suburb of Los Angeles.
Although a minority party in its state, the party does boast Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as its top elected official.

California Republicans in the U.S. Congress
In May 2001, David Dreier was unanimously selected by his California colleagues to chair the California Republican Congressional Delegation. As Chairman, he leads the Congress' second-largest Republican delegation. With 19 members hailing mostly from conservative areas in inland Northern California, the Central Valley from Sacramento to Bakersfield, Orange County, northern San Diego County and the Coachella Valley, the delegation is second only to Texas, with 20 members, in Republican representation. The strongest support of the California Republican party in recent years has been from the Fresno area, the Inland Empire (California) and fast-growing desert regions with more population and a greater pull to the Republicans than the predominantly Democratic urban areas and coastal cities.[citation needed]
Both of California's two senators, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, are Democrats.
