California's 53rd congressional district
California's 53rd congressional district is one of 53 California Congressional Districts. It includes the heart of San Diego and stretches south to the United States–Mexico border.
Continuing east, is the City of Lemon Grove. Just to the south, nestled at the bottom of Dictionary Hill, lies the community of La Presa.
Across the Coronado Bridge, the 53rd District stretches west and south to the cities of Coronado and Imperial Beach. The current Representative for this district is Democrat Susan Davis. The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of D +12.
Voting
John Kerry received 61% of the vote in this district in 2004; George W. Bush received 38%.[1] The district voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger 53-41% in 2006,[2] Dianne Feinstein 66-29% in 2006,[3] Barbara Boxer 64-31% in 2004,[4] recalling Gray Davis 53-47%[5] and Schwarzenegger 48-34%[6] in 2003, and Davis 51-40% in 2002.[7]
