Its a beautiful spot in the Tamar valley about 10 miles north of
Plymouth in Devon (UK)
just below Calstock.
There is an old National Trust owned house, open to the public,
once the home of the Edgecombe family with glorious terraced
gardens leading down to the river. There is a quay by the river and
a restored mill and museum a short walk from the house where
traditional activities can be watched.
In the grounds of the house there is a tall 3 sided tower which
can be climbed for an excellent view across the valley and along to
the magnificent Calstock viaduct.
Due to its unique mining history, the Tamar valley is part of a
World Heritage site.
