was Robert Tinson, in 1844, who also played for St. George's Club
of New York.
The first captain of the United States in first-class matches
was English-born Cyril Wilson, whose only match as captain, in
1883, happened to be his only match in first-class cricket.
The United States' first, and only, captain in One-Day
International cricket is Richard Staple, formerly a representative
of his home country, Jamaica.
