The namesake for Carroll Shelby International (CSI) is one of the world's great walking brand names. From his days with the Aston Martin racing team in the 1950s to his work with Ford Motor, Carroll Shelby is an automotive living legend. CSI's Shelby Automobiles subsidiary builds Shelby Cobra component cars (kit cars with no engine or drivetrain). Shelby Automobiles sells the cars through a network of 20 dealers in North America and Europe. CSI also licenses the Shelby name for use by makers of everything from car parts and apparel to collectibles and toys. Carroll Shelby has rejoined forces with Ford to build a 550-horsepower Shelby Expedition SUV and a Shelby Mustang.

Carroll Shelby International NASDAQCSBI was formed by Carroll Shelby in 2003 from Shelby American. The company is based at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Clark County, Nevada.

Shelby American currently manufacturers component automobiles including the small block Cobra, the big block Cobra, and the Shelby Series 1. Shelby was to debut a new car, the Shelby Series 2, in August 2006, but no reports have been issued about the vehicle.

Carroll Shelby International was previously working with Texas-based Unique Performance to create new Mustang-based Shelby cars such as the GT350SR and GT500E. On November 1, 2007, Unique Performance was raided by the Farmers Branch Police Department due to VIN irregularities and subsequently declared bankruptcy, which effectively ended the Shelby continuation "Eleanor" production.[1]
